Jesse: I would say, we’re probably closest to maybe - apes - and I think if we were trapped in a zoo, we would be really upset and try to break out. I think we’re the only animal that is tame, I think all the other animals are in their right places.
Bridget: What is the best part about being in a band, and what are the drawbacks of it?
Jesse: You know, being able to express one idea with several people, that’s rare in art. The drawbacks are probably, anything ranging from being on the road, and being away from home - living with other people every single day. After time though, it becomes a family and you grow and learn how to deal with each other, we really love each other. It’s a relationship and you have to work on it.
Bridget: Aside from music, where do you draw your inspiration from? What was the primary inspiration for your latest album, “Tamer Animals”?
Jesse: I really think when we are on tour, a big inspiration to me is being able to look out the window and see various landscapes. So that, really, observing, that has kind of become something to me, writing music to that picture, that scene.
Bridget: Do you and the group have any pre-show rituals?
Jesse: You know, we don’t actually. I think everyone just kind of spend a little time away from each other, we’re usually pretty goofy before a show to keep things light hearted.
Bridget: What is the most memorable show you have performed thus far?
Jesse: Oh that’s interesting. I mean, there’s been a lot of memorable ones. Maybe our first gig in London that we just played this last summer. It was the right crowd, and we just played really loud. I’ve played a lot of shows but in recent times that one in particular stands out.
Bridget: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Jesse: To not eat Indian food before going stage...and I’ll pass on answering why.
